SANGEET BAITHAK #44 - ARTIST OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER 2024

Mayukh Gangopadhyay is a gifted Sarod player, based out of Kolkata.

Mayukh Gangopadhyay is a professional 'sarod' player and composer from India following a combination of Maihar-Imdadkhani Gharana. He has been learning sarod for more than 22 years from his age of 5. 

His first Guru was Pt. Alok Lahiri and now he is under the tutelage of Shri Sohom Chatterjee and Shri Abhik Mukherjee who is one of the Senior disciples of Pandit Kashinath Mukherjee and Pandit Arvind Parikh. He has been performing in India and Europe at various noted venues to name 

• Shubh-e- Banaras, International Trade Fair, Kolkata; 

• Peace Palace, The Hague, Netherlands on the occasion of the 150th Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi; 

• L'association Bhairavi, Metz, France; 

• Zibb, Giessen, Germany; 

• Médiathèque l'Étoffe des Mots, Fellering, Alsace, France, 

• Babel Sound world Music Festival, Hungary; 

• Indo-Czech Autumn Festival, Prague, 

• Theater am Faden, Stuttgart; 

• Actisce Patronage laique Jules Vallès, Paris, France, etc. 

He was awarded 'Vadya Visharad' from Sarbabharatiya Sangeet and Kala Parishad and also received CCRT Senior Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India.
