Dr. Keerti Mallela is a fourth-generation Hindustani classical vocalist, trained under Vidushi Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar and Vidushi Sarita Pathak Yajurvedi. Her musical lineage draws from the Jaipur and Rampur-Sadarang gharanas, and her style reflects a deep commitment to both the structural integrity and emotional resonance of the tradition.
Specialising in Khayal and Thumri, Keerti also presents semi-classical forms such as Dadra, Kajri, and Bhajan. Her performances are noted for their nuanced expression, lyrical sensitivity, and a contemplative unfolding of the raga. With a refined command over bol-alaap, sargam, and taans, she brings each raga to life with subtlety and depth. Keerti’s concerts often revolve around carefully curated themes that explore the intersection of music, poetry, devotion, and philosophy, offering audiences an immersive and reflective listening experience. She has performed extensively in India—through intimate baithaks in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkata—and internationally in Chicago, New Jersey,
and Dallas.
Keerti’s artistic practice goes beyond formal concerts, delving into deeper and more philosophical ways of engaging with the shared aesthetic sensibilities of Hindustani and Carnatic music. Her workshops—Raga Conversations: Hindustani–Carnatic Crossings and Naada-Svaroop: Understanding Rāga as Inner Form—reflect her commitment to expanding the reach of Hindustani classical music while fostering conversations between traditions, audiences, and contexts.
In addition to her musical practice, Keerti holds a PhD in Economics, with an MPhil in Financial Economics and Hindu Philosophy. She has presented her research at Oxford University, with a focus on the interplay between economic thought, philosophy, and Indian spiritual traditions. She is the founder and CEO of Policy Evolve Research India and co-founder of the m1 Foundation, where she continues to bridge the worlds of art, academia, and social impact. Through her performances, Keerti aims to create spaces that celebrate not just the technical richness of Hindustani classical music, but also its emotional depth and spiritual essence.
Taalmagic is honoured to host this illustrious musical genius on the occasion of our 49th Sangeet Baithak.
